Stack 3

Once committed to exploring the stack series as a vertical accumulation of threads, imaginary episodes as if built on a loom, I began to think of how to organise images to make visible the desire for connection.

Stack 3 (desire), 2009-10, references in part this sentence by Todd McGowan:

“To succumb to the logic of fantasy is to encounter a materialisation of the gap within the symbolic order. Fantasy, the narrative appearing in this gap, primarily functions to assure us that the gap doesn’t exist. But, because of its location in the gap, fantasy has the potential to destroy the comfort of imaginary bonds, forcing us to experience an enjoyment that leaves us exposed and vulnerable”.
